Ballarat Hospice Care Board of Governance are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Howard as Chief Executive Officer following the retirement of Carita Clancy.
Andrew has an in depth knowledge of palliative care relating to patient and carer support and comes to Ballarat Hospice Care with 25 years executive level experience across a range of human service organisations. His professional strengths include leadership, effective communication, strategic thinking, negotiating skills and a focus on premium quality service delivery.
Andrew is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, holds a Graduate Diploma in Management and originally commenced his career as a Registered Nurse. Andrew’s immediate past role was as the inaugural General Manager at Mercy Place Ballarat an innovative small household model residential aged care facility commissioned in September 2018.
The Board is confident that Andrew will build on the strong foundations of Ballarat Hospice Care created over the last 30 years since establishment. Ballarat Hospice Care will continue to do what it has always done;
- assist people with a life-limiting illness to stay at home;
- support the carers, friends and family who care for them;
- work closely with the other health and community services with the same quality, caring and compassionate approach it has always provided.
Andrew’s vision for Ballarat Hospice Care’s future includes a collaborative approach and an enduring respect for those who have contributed their knowledge, skills and experience to the existing excellent and well established and respected service.
In Andrew’s words
“My focus will be to continue on the great work already undertaken in building a sustainable service that supports people and their families through the most challenging time of their lives.”
Andrew is looking forward to meeting the team at Ballarat Hospice Care and working closely with the Board. He commences on Monday October 17, 2022.
