Former home of Ballarat Hospice Care has sold

The former home of Ballarat Hospice Care located at 312 Drummond Street South, Ballarat was sold to Alive Church Incorporated on Friday September 25, 2020.

The former church was home to Ballarat Hospice Care for over twenty years from 1997 before relocating to a purpose built Palliative Care Hub located at 1836 Sturt Street, Alfredton during September 2019.

Mr Geoff Russell, Chairman of Ballarat Hospice Care Inc. Committee of Management commented “It is pleasing that the new owners of the building retain the connection to the Ballarat community. The building holds a special place in our history, it is where our specialist palliative care services were delivered, nurtured and developed. We outgrew our home and required a new facility to ensure community based specialist palliative care services and care continue now and into the future.”

Right Reverend Garry Weatherill, Anglican Bishop of Ballarat said “The church located at 312 Drummond Street was formerly the All Saints Church before being sold to Hospice. The building has always been an important part of our community, starting as a church, then becoming the home of Ballarat Hospice Care. It is ironic that it is now reverting back to it’s original purpose of a church.”
