Ballarat Hospice Care was nothing short of marvellous for me and my husband. When he was diagnosed with a terminal illness and needed palliative care, they stepped in and took charge, making everything so much easier. They helped set everything up and took the pressure off me. I honestly couldn’t have cared for him at home without their support. Their nursing staff went the extra mile, always there to answer my questions and offer comfort. Even after he passed away, they continued to provide the same wonderful support.
After losing my husband, I felt like I needed to do something more to show my gratitude. So, I decided to volunteer at the Op Shop, which has been such a fulfilling experience. It’s a beautiful, welcoming environment with a wonderful team of people. The Op Shop is unlike any other I’ve been to – it’s fresh, clean, and organised, and there’s a real sense of community there. I love working with the volunteers, meeting new people, and making new friends.
The funds raised from the Op Shop are essential for supporting the services Ballarat Hospice Care provides. It’s amazing how much money comes in from donated goods, and knowing that it goes directly towards supporting palliative care and equipment makes it all the more meaningful.
If I had to choose one word to describe Ballarat Hospice Care, it would be caring. They don’t just care for the patient; they care for the entire family. They understood what I was going through, always offering emotional support and guidance. I’ll be forever grateful for their help during such a difficult time.
To anyone who has a loved one needing palliative care, I would say turn to Hospice – you don’t have to do it alone. They are there for you every step of the way.
