Palliative Care Nurse (2023 - Current)

My experience with Ballarat Hospice Care has been incredibly meaningful. I’ve been here for over two and a half years as a specialist palliative care nurse, and the compassion and dedication of the team truly stand out. It’s not just about symptom management; it’s about walking alongside patients and their families through every moment, offering emotional, spiritual, and practical support.

I value how Ballarat Hospice Care fosters a sense of dignity in every moment. We treat the whole person, not just the illness, ensuring that patients feel safe, cared for, and respected in their own homes, surrounded by their loved ones. It’s about supporting families, making sure they don’t feel alone, and offering a compassionate presence during a deeply emotional time.

One of the most profound things about working in palliative care is witnessing the resilience of patients and families. It’s a humbling experience, and it’s always inspiring to see the strength and love that surrounds them. Every experience is unique, but the love and warmth I feel when I walk into someone’s home is always profound.

Palliative care is more than just about the end of life. It’s about walking the whole journey with patients and their families, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way. It’s about community, safety, and care, and that’s what makes Ballarat Hospice Care so essential.

I’ve always had a passion for palliative care, and joining Ballarat Hospice Care was a dream come true. The job is both challenging and rewarding – there are moments of sadness, but there are also moments of joy and beauty. I feel privileged to be part of this team.
