40 Years of Ballarat Hospice Care

Explore our journey from our foundation in 1985 to today.

Over four decades, we have expanded our services, deepened our community connections, and remained committed to providing in-home specialist palliative care.

1984-1985

A 1984 meeting hosted by the Ballarat Trades and Labour Council sparked community support for a local hospice. In 1985, Ballarat Hospice Care was officially formed and incorporated.

1986

Opened at Armstrong St, and a fundraising appeal was launched.

Bereavement Support Group (now Special Interest Group) formed.

Government Funding received for $1M.

40 Years of Care

Since 1985, Ballarat Hospice Care has provided in-home specialist palliative care. In 2025, we celebrate 40 years of supporting our community with care, dignity and respect.
