The Hub is a welcoming haven for everyone.

The building reflects Ballarat Hospice Care values:

Our values guide our community interaction. Our visitors feel welcome and the space they walk into is accessible and inviting.

There are dedicated spaces for education, meetings and consulting. The meeting rooms are not branded so hirers can make the space their own during the time they are using them. The artwork on display in the public area and meeting rooms acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which the Palliative Care Hub stands, the Wadawurrung people and the Hub’s rich community connection.

The training room is bright and comfortable, with lovely views onto the garden area. It can be divided into two smaller workrooms, which is perfect when you need a breakout room. A conveniently located and well equipped kitchen, sufficient bathrooms and easy parking all add to the comfort of participants. I would definitely consider this venue for any workshops I facilitate in the future.”

Space for Hire

We have room solutions for your next event or meeting.

Our conference and meeting rooms are bright, calm, warm and welcoming with integrated, user friendly audio visual and wireless internet.

Room hire includes:

tables and seating
large screen TV, camera and speakers (in the meeting rooms)
Wi-Fi internet access
access to kitchen facilities for tea and coffee making
access to the room prior to the event for room set up
tea and coffee for up to 20 people (for 20+ people an additional fee is charged).

Hirers will arrange the room to their requirements and will organise their own catering.

PLEASE NOTE: The Ballarat Palliative Care Hub is a SMOKE FREE environment. All room hire agreements include a NO SMOKING policy. Guests are not to smoke within the Palliative Care Hub property boundaries.

History

In 2015 the Ballarat Hospice Care Inc. Committee of Management had a dream for Ballarat Hospice Care to have the right environment to implement the End of Life Framework , continue to offer quality palliative care, undertake research and continually expand to meet the needs of the community.

A decision was made to purchase land in Alfredton and a “Give to help Hospice Grow” appeal was launched in February 2016. We received overwhelming generosity of individual, foundation and corporate donations and community fundraising activities. These donations were further supported by a successful funding application through the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF) and on September 18, 2017 a $6.2 million dollar grant was announced by the Hon. Jill Hennessy, the then Minister for Health in the company of Hon. Jaala Pulford and Sharon Knight MP.

Hon. Jaala Pulford officially opened Ballarat Hospice Care Palliative Care Hub on behalf of Minister for Health; The Hon Jenny Mikakos on October 2, 2019.

The building was designed to meet the growing needs of Ballarat Hospice Care and be a place that represents the Ballarat Hospice Care values of loyalty, kindness, honesty, respect, trust, skill and willingness. A place where staff and volunteers have an work place that allows for innovation and flexible service delivery. There are areas for volunteers, clinical care, counselling, education and promotion of palliative care to our community.

It is a calm, quiet and safe place where our community will come to understand about living and dying well, how to make informed decisions and a provide a welcoming haven for all who use it.
