Ballarat Hospice Care Inc. (BHCI) invites community members from our catchment area to express their interest in joining our Board of Governance.

Our catchment area includes Hepburn Shire, City of Ballarat, Northern Golden Plains Shire and Western Moorabool Shire.

Board positions are for a 3-year term, with the option to renominate for up to two further terms (a maximum of nine years).

About Ballarat Hospice Care Inc.

Ballarat Hospice Care Inc. is a not-for-profit, home-based specialist palliative care service. We support people living with a life-limiting illness, and their family and carers, to receive compassionate care in the place they call home.

BHCI operates under a funding and service agreement with the Victorian Department of Health and works closely with health and community services across our region.


About Our Board

The BHCI Board is comprised of 7 to 11 volunteer Board Directors drawn from across our service area. The Board plays a vital role in:

  • Setting strategic direction
  • Ensuring strong governance and compliance
  • Supporting quality, safety and sustainability of our service
  • Upholding BHCI’s vision, mission and values.

The Board upholds good governance principles and practice, meets monthly and has a strong commitment to continuous growth and development. Board Directors are not remunerated for their service; however, reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Board memberships involve some travel and face-to-face meetings each year.


Who We Are Seeking

We welcome expressions of interest from individuals with a commitment to good governance practices and an interest in supporting specialist palliative care.
We are particularly interested in candidates with skills and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Marketing
  • Community engagement
  • Philanthropy
  • Cyber Security, AI and emerging technologies
  • Contemporary governance knowledge and experience
